grade 1st Sgt., Enlisted April 14, 1911, at Ft McDowell, CA. Serving in Second N.A., Third N.A. enlistment period at date of discharge. Prior service: Troop G 7th Cav. Apr 14, 1914 to Sep 5, 1917; Co A, 330th M.G.Bn Sep 10, 1917 to Apr 14, 1918.
Noncommissioned officer: lst Sgt Apr 20, 1918. Marksmanship rating: sharpshooter. Horsemanship: excellent. Battles, engagements, skirmishes, expeditions: Entered Mex. Mar 15, 1916. Battle of Guerirrio Mar 29, 1916. Engagement with bandits at Santa Thomas Apr 27, 1916. Vocation: cowboy. Wounds received in service: Gunshot wound, left thigh. Physical condition when discharged: good. Typhoid prophylaxis completed May 2, 1914. Paratyphoid prop. completed Oct 18, 1916. Married/single: single. Character: excellent. Remarks: vaccinated Apr 14, 1914, successful. Signature, John J Boyd. Chester E Breece, 2nd Lt Inf. USA, commanding 2nd Co.
Ed. Note: Though he should have been in this book by Jacobin, John does not appear and the only reason I can think of; is that directly after his discharge he did not return to Washington state or Skagit Co.-except for a couple family reunions later- but settled in Battle Creek, Mich.
The cards were sent to Louis Jacobin by the veterans themselves with the pertinent information after advertizing requests in Skagit Co. newspapers.

Vernon WA, 27 Apr 1918; transferred from Camp Lewis Wa, to Camp Merritt NJ; to overseas 4 Jul 1918; served at St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, Lys-Ypres; wounded at battle of Audenarde, Belgium, 5 Nov 1918; 6 months overseas; mustered out at Camp Lewis Wa, 27 Mar 1919.
