Part 3: Local news of the day

      Clear Lake historian Deanna Ammons met the owner of this very rare newspaper at the memorial service for a descendant of the Bartl family. This is the oldest issue of any upriver newspaper found so far from Skagit county. With the volume number, we now know that this newspaper was launched on May 21 or May 23, 1889, months before any newspaper was published in Sedro.
